Safe & Secure Housing

We have developed a housing initiative to increase opportunities for residents to live in safe, healthy, and secure housing; increase homeownership opportunities for residents; decrease neighborhood blight and prevent resident displacement; and employ contractors from within the community. To support this, we are expanding existing relationships with housing counsel and local banking groups to increase the community’s knowledge of housing and financial resources.

Environmentally-Responsible Practices

As global temperature changes persist, people in poverty will be among the most impacted by the changes in conditions. We want our community members to get ahead of this by learning and implementing environmentally responsible practices, including participating in backyard gardening.

Environmental Toxins

Many neighborhood residents risk exposure to lead, mold, and mildew in their homes. Reducing environmental toxins is critical to overall health, and we are working to increase residents’ knowledge of the impact of lead exposure in paint, water, dirt, and more. All while connecting them to wellness activities to reduce this exposure.

Personal & Community Well-Being

By building neighborhood capacity in this area, we can put residents in control of their health. We want to continue connecting community members with health and wellness activities, focusing on efforts to assess community health concerns and hold regular wellness, food, and resource events.
